Will of Catherine Lair

In the name of God Amen:
I Catherine Lair [of] Rockingham County and State of Virginia being in ve[ry] weak condition but of Perfect mind and memory th[anks] be given to Almighty god for the same, and calling [to] mind the mortality of my body, and knowing it is ap[pointed] for all men Once to die do make ordain th[is] [my] Last will and testament. That is to say Principally _____ first of all I give and Recommend my soul into t[he] hands of God tht gave it, as for my Body I Reco[mend] it to the earth to be buried in a decent Christi[an] [like] manner at the discretion of my Executor h[erein named]....... the same in manner and form following.
Impremiz I give and bequeath unto ___ the meeting that belongs unto or the Congregation that ___ ___ and Preach at the meeting house Commonly called Roders Church the sum of Five Pounds Current money of Virginia to be Paid by the hand of my Executors hereafter named.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my several Sons and Daughters (Viz) my son Joseph Lair, my daughter Catherine Newman, my son Andrew Lair, my son Matthias Lair dec'd or his heirs, my daughter Elizabeth Trumbo dec'd or her heirs, my daughter Mary Ruddle, my daughter Margaret Custer and my son John Lair all my personal Estate to be Equally Divided amongst them agreeable to quantity and quality.
Item my will and desire is that my malatto girl named Rebeckah decent to my said Daughter Mary Ruddle to serve here till she the said Rebeckah arive at teh age of twenty one years, and then to be free and entirely clear of any manner of bondage as a slave my will and desire is that the said Rebeckah Malatto is aforesand do possess all the wearing apparel of her mother named Jude deceased together with the small chest or Box that they are in and that they remain her property before and after she is free, which said girl will be free on the second day April 1810 at which time she will be twenty one yers of age after Payment of Lawful debts and funeral expenses.
I do hereby constitute and appoint my well beloved friend Henry Stolp Executor of this [my] last wil and testament and I hereby _____ Other former Testaments wills Legacies B[equests] and Executors by me in any ways before named Willed or Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this ____ no Other to be my last will and Testament, signed Sealed Published pronounced by the said Catherine Lair as and for her last will and Testament in the Presence of us and the Presence of each Other have hereunto Subscribed Our names this ninty day of July 1799.
