It is only a few months back that we recorded the demise of Mr J. L. Ballard, of Red Range, and now we have the sad duty thrust upon us of chronicling the passing away of his widow, who succumbed to an attack of pneumonia at Red Range on Monday last, after an illness of three days duration. The deceased lady, who was 81 years of ago and a native of the Isle of Skye, came to the Colonies in 1836, and for many years resided in the Hunter River district, principally at Hamilton, near Newcastle, subsequently going to "the Range," where she lived for upwards of 27 years. The funeral took place on Tuesday, deceased's remains being interred adjacent to those of her husband. Lengthy and honorable journey along life's rugged pathway. The late Mrs. Ballard leaves a grown-up family, towards whom much sympathy has been shown.
