Note: It is thought that Catherine HOBBS was born in 1808, the third youngest child of convicts Robert HOBBS (Active 1791) and Bridget HESLIN (Sugar Cane 1793). Catherine was baptised on the 6th June 1822 (Baptism Vol 125#268) however the certificate does not list her date of birth. She was baptised Catherine HOBBS her father is listed as Robert HOBBS and her mother as Bridget HASLIN, of Pitt Town. The sponsors were listed as Michael and Cath GARRIGAN and the Minister was the Rev. J.J. THERRY of the Roman Catholic faith. Note: Catherine gave birth to her first child in 1824 and went on to have twelve children, with the last child being born in 1855 when Catherine was then 47 years old. Note: The 1828 Census lists William JONES, 28, Hebe 1821, Blacksmith, as living at Pitt Town with Catharine JONES (20) BC, Thomas JONES (4) BC and Elizabeth (1) BC - all protestants (although Catherine had been baptised as Roman Catholic).
