A barn on the Joseph L. Tunis farm at Wickatunk was burned down about five o'clock this morning. James Doyle, who had been working for the farmers in the vicinity, is suspected of having set fire to the buildings and officers are searching for him. The barn was discovered on fire on Sunday morning but the blaze was put out. Again yesterday morning the building was discovered on fire, but the flames had not gained much headway and were put out before any damage was done. When the fire was discovered this morning it was so far advanced that nothing could be done to save the building.
When the fire was discovered a man answering to Doyle's description was seen running from the building by a servant girl employed on the place. Doyle had been working for the farmers in the vicinity for several weeks. He is a total stanger in the place and nothing concerning him is known. He disappeared from the place this morning. He wore a light coast, a pair of brown overalls and a new pair of shoes. He has one finger missing and one of his teeth projects prominently.
The barn which was burned was wroth about $3,000 and was insured for $2,000. The farm is occupied by John Grant. He saved all his live stock and all his farming implements except a potato digger. The farm belings to Mrs. Tunis, widow of Joseph L. Tunis.
