Carrie Marie Considine Haan of Villa Park, passed into eternity surrounded by her family on July 7, 2018. Her untimely death has left her family and friends heartbroken. Carrie is survived by her daughter Candi and husband Lonnie, son Richard and wife Carrie, son Christopher and wife Kim, and daughter Katherine. She was known as "Nana" to her eight grandchildren: Nathan, Austin, Matthew, Aidan, Alexa, Sierra, Aubrie and Chase, as well as her three step-grandchildren, Bradley, Kimberly and Jeffrey. She is also survived by her sister Cassie Kilsdonk, sister Jane Lemon, sister Linda and her husband Tom Fitzmaurice; sister-in-law Claire Considine and brother-in-law Bob Haan and his wife Shirley. Many nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews, also share in the sorrow that comes with her passing. Carrie was born April 3, 1930 in Washington, D.C. to James William and Carrie Layton Considine. Carrie was the oldest of five four sisters and a brother. After high school, Carrie attended Chevy Chase Junior College where she was crowned May Queen. She later graduated from Michigan State University and remained a proud Spartan for life. Carrie met Erwin Louis "Lou" Haan at Michigan State and the two married in 1956. They moved to the city of Villa Park in 1968 from Sunnyvale, CA. She immediately fell in love with her new home, the community, the beach and her neighbors, many who became lifelong friends. She loved trips to Catalina, camping, sailing, and hours of boogie-boarding, laughing with best friends and grandkids. Devoted to family, she became involved in a myriad of school programs, sports and other activities at Villa Park Elementary, Taft Elementary, Cerro Villa Jr. High and Villa Park High School. She actively served in the community for many years and in many capacities, including as a Cub Scouts and Brownies leader, lifetime member and President of the Villa Park Women's League, as well as a fundraiser and helper in community support efforts and much more. As her family grew, Carrie rejoined the working world, initially joining Dr. Ken Fischer's staff to help establish and grow his Villa Park-based Orthodontics practice. She then became a licensed Real Estate agent joining Villa Park Real Estate in 1978, and later working with Seven Gables Real Estate, successfully serving the realty needs of the local area, for more than 30 years. Carrie's true passion was family and friends. She remained the number one cheerleader to her children and grandchildren in their every endeavor. She cherished her friends and neighbors and eagerly joined in the many social activities the community enjoys, including her many Bridge groups, Investment Club, Women's League events, Solos, Gourmet Club, Crescendo, her spirited "birthday group" and others. Her Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 18th at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, 300 E. Taft Ave, Orange, CA 92865. Services will start at 2pm, with a reception to be held immediately afterward at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA. Her family invites willing friends and family to share any special thoughts or memories at the reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made "in memory of Carrie Haan" to her favorite family-focused charity, The Friendly Center of Orange, via check payable to: V.P.W.L., 9781 Crestview Circle, Villa Park, CA 92861.
