Carolyn Rogers Myers, widow of Zebulon Vance Myers, died at The Presbyterian Home in Clinton on Dec. 12, 1999. Carolyn had lived at the Presbyterian Home for over 20 years. A memorial service will be held in the Activities Building at The Presbyterian Home in Clinton on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Jeri Perkins will officiate. A graveside service will be held at the West View Cemetery in Walhalla on Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. led by the Rev. Roy Taylor. Carolyn Rogers Myers was born in Walhalla on Sept. 9, 1904. Her parents were the Late Robert L. Rogers and Ella Blanche Steck Rogers. Carolyn received her A.B. degree from Queens College, Charlotte, N.C., in 1924. She attended Presbyterian School of Christian Education and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. Carolyn was involved in mission work in Mexico from 1930 to 1954. She was serving in the administration of the mission hospital in Morelis when she married Zebulon Vance Myers, an engineer and builder of many of the mission buildings. Carolyn also taught English in the schools of the University of Micheacan, Bible classes in local communities, and wrote studies for the Presbyterian Church. The Myers retired in 1954 and moved to Walhalla, S.C., where they were active members of the Walhalla Presbyterian Church. The Myers helped establish a chapel in West Union where Carolyn played the piano for services and taught Sunday School for many years. Carolyn is survived by her stepdaughter, Katherine Myers Bassett and her husband, Clarence Basset of Austin, Texas; her stepdaughter-in- law, Angie C. Myers of Nellysford, Va., wife of Carolyn's stepson, the late Vance A. Myers; the children of Clarence and Katherine Bassett: David Bassett, Mary Benge, Bob Bassett, Betty Osborn, John Bassett, and Ana Cisneros; the sons of Vance Myers: Whitney Myers, and his wife, Sally, and Wayne Myers; and 13 great- grandchildren.
