  1.   Family notes.

Caroline Elizabeth (Elise) Antritter, daughter of Charles and Karoline C Antritter, was born January 11, 1876 in Frankfort-on-the-Main, Germany. She went to Sulzfeld, Baden, Germany with her parents, where they lived until 1878. From there they moved to Lyons, France, where she attended school until May of 1885. At that time they traveled to the United States and arrived at Hull, Iowa. She and her brother Charles found it a bit difficult since they were the only French speaking children in the predominately German community. They rapidly learned to read, write and speak German and English by attending regular school and a German school conducted by the German Lutheran minister.

January 1, 1891 she moved with her family to the home Charles Antritter had built in Section 1, Indian Lake Township on the Nobles county/Jackson county road...directly across from the Morgan homestead.

She worked at "Roche's Roost" during the summer when Mr. Roche entertained his many guests and visitors from Chicago.
