Obit--Carl McLuen, son of John and Ellen McLuen was born Nov. 4, 1877 near Dale, Iowa, and was called in death at a hospital in Algona Iowa, Oct 22, 1923. Age 45 years 11 months and 13 day. Carl was not married, and had been living on a farm near Irvington, Iowa, for the past eight years. Monday evening October 15th, while preparing supper for himself and friend Harley Stanley of Dale, who was with him and was working on his car in the yard the oil stove he was using exploded and burned him severely aout the face and head. He was taken to the hospital at Algona, where he died a week later from the effects of the burn. He was brought to the home of his parents near Dale, where the funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 24th, 1923. He leaves to mourn his death, his father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. John McLuen, a brother Fay McLuen and a sister Mrs. E. E. Arrasmith, two half brothers, Will and John McLuen and a stepsister, Mrs. Ede Miller of Valva, N. Dak., and other relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Morrisburg cemetery.
