Calvin A. Becherer, 97, 211 Euclid Ave., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., June 2, 1903, son of the late Edwin and Mabel Kaumeyer Becherer.
He worked for Hays Manufacturing and retired in 1968. He served as secretary for Hays Management Association and as a deacon, elder and trustee for First Presbyterian Church of Erie.
He also served on several committees for the Erie Presbyterian and the Synod of Pennsylvania. He was a life member of Temple Royal Arch Chapter 215 and was a commander for Knight's Templar of Mount Olivet Commandery 30 of Erie.
He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club, Medina Lodge 336 F. & A.M., Jerusalem Council 33, the Royal and Select Master Masons, Eastminster Presbyterian Church and First Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Marjorie Lillie Becherer; his second wife of seven years, Elizabeth "Betty" Feather Becherer; and an adopted son, David Paul Becherer.
Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Jamestown, N.Y.
