In Westerly, R. I., January 28, 1912, Mrs. N. Henry Lanphere, aged sixty-eight years and ten days.
Califurnia Corbet Lanphere was the daughter of Gardner and Elizabeth Crandall Burdick. She was born in the town of Hopkinton, R. I., near Rockville, January 18, 1844. At the age of fourteen she was converted, accepted the Saviour and was baptized by Rev. Stephen Burdick uniting with the Rockville Seventh Day Baptist Church, where she always retained her membership, and for the success of which she hoped and prayed. May 12, 1878, she married N. Henry Lanphere of Rockville, to whom she was a loving and faithful wife. One daughter was born to them, who, with the bereaved husband and two sisters, Mrs. Jared G. Barber and Mrs. Alfred S. Babcock, both of Rockville, are left to hold her in sweet memory.
About nine years ago Mr. and Mrs. Lanphere moved to Westerly, where they have since resided. Here in church and society Mrs. Lanphere was as faithful as she had been in her old home, a regular attendant at the services in the house of God, and a careful listener to the words spoken there. All who were acquainted with her will miss her. A good mother and wife has fallen asleep. C. A. B.
