Caleb's will was signed the day of his wife's death, 1 Nov 1779. He lived in Danby at the time, and the will was presented at the probate court on 1 May 1789. The will names (in order) his "eldest daughter" Lydia, son James, son George, daughter Esther Collins, daughter Elanor, daughter Hulda Matteson (all of whom received the same bequest of 20 Spanish milld dollars), daughter Mary Nichols (bed and bedding), son Amos (50 acres adjoining his current lot), son Isaac (50 Spanish milld dollars), daughter Rebecca (iron kettle), son Joshua (200 Spanish milld dollars to be paid when he reaches 21 or marries), grandchildren Caleb, Anne (daughter of Lydia), Charlotte (daughter of Titus), Elizabeth (daughter of Amos) (all the grandchildren are to receive 10 Spanish milld dollars when they reach 18 (21 for Caleb)), and son Titus, who receives the remainder of the estate and is appointed executor.

Will of Caleb Colvin: In the Name of God Amen I Caleb Colvin of Danby in the County of Bennington and Stae of Vermont being in health of Body and perfect memory blessed by God therefore, Do this 30th day of Novr. in the fourth year of America's Independency in the Year of Our Lord 1779, Make and publish this my last Will & Testament in manner and form following [that is to say] Imprimis. I commend my Soul into the Hands of all mighty God who gave it me, and my Body to the Earth from whence it came in hopes of a Joyful Resurrection through the merits of my Saviour Jesus Christ. And as for that worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me: - I Dispose thereof as follows - First after my just Debts and funeral charges are paid by the Executor to this my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath to my Eldest Daughter Lydia Colvin Twenty Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to her by my Executor hereafter named -
Item: I give to my son James Colvin Twenty Spanish milld Dollars to be paid to him by my said Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son George Colvin Twenty Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to him by my said Executor.
Item, I give & bequeath to my daughter Esther Collins Twenty Spanis mild. Dollars to be paid to her by my Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elanor [sic] Colvin the sum of Twenty Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to her by said Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Hulda Matteson the sum of Twenty Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to her by said Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Nichols my Bed and beding [sic].
Item, I give and bequeath to my Son Amos Colvin Fifty acres of Land, it being the Lot that I bought of Edward Vail Joining the Lot said Amos Colvin now lives on.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Son Isaac Colvin the sum of fifty Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to him by said Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Rebecca one of my Iron Kettles of which she is to have her choice.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Son Joshua the sum of Two Hundred Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to him by said Executor when [he] arrives to the age of Twenty-one years or sooner if he should marry and stand in need of a settlement.
Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson Caleb Edmunds the sun of Ten Spanish milld. Dollars when he shall arrive to the age of twenty-one years.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Anne Colvin Daughter to my Daughter Lydia colvin Ten Spanish milld. Dollars when she arrives to the age of Eighteen years.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Charlotte Colvin Daughter of my son Titus Colvin the sum of Ten Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to her when she shall arrive to the age of Eighteen years by my said Executor.
Item, I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Colvin Daughter of my Son Amos Colvin the sum of Ten Spanish milld. Dollars to be paid to her by my said Executor when she shall arrive to the age of Eighteen years.
Item, I give and bequeath to my son Titus Colvin all the remaind part of my Estate Real & Personal Houses, Land, Goods Chattels and movables of what kind so ever - and I do hereby ordain and appoint my said son Titus Colvin to be sole Executor to this my last Will & Testament, In witness whereof I the said Caleb Colvin have herewith set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year above written. At a Court of Probate held at Danby within & for the Probate District of Rutland on the First Day of May 1789 before the Hon. Elisha Clark Esq. Judge of said Court this Will is presented in said Court by Titus Colvin Executor therein named for Probate and William Brumby, Edward Vail & John Vail Personally appeared and made Solemn Oath that they saw Caleb Colvin sign and seal this Will that they heard him Publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and Testament and that he appeared to them to be of a sound disposing mind and memory. Wherefore this will is approved Ratified and Confirmed as the last Will and Testament of the said Caleb Colvin the Testator. By Elisha Clark, Judge
