  «i»CHRISTOPHER BARET, bapt. 1562 at Westhall, Suffolk, England.  He m. ELIZABETH CLARKE at Lincolnshire, England; d. Norwich, Norfolk, England, in August 1649, survived by his widow.

   After the third marriage of his mother he went with her and his stepfather to Norwich, England, where in 1574 he was apprenticed for twelve years to a grocer.  In 1586, he became a grocer in Norwich.  He was Sheriff in 1615 and Mayor of Norwich in 1634.  He was Deputy Mayor in 1647.  Of his nine children the last six were baptized at St. Andrews Parish, Norwich, Norfolk, England.  He died aged about 87.

   Among his nine children was: 5.    MARGARET BARET, bapt. at St. Andrews Parish, Norwich, England, Sept. 29, 1595; m. probably at Norwich, England, SIMON HUNTINGTON (q.v.).  In 1637 she sailed on the "Elizabeth Bonaventure" with her husband and children, arriving at Boston June 15, 1637.   Her husband died of small pox just before landing.  She went to Roxbury, Mass., where she married (2) in 1635 or 1636 Lieutenant Charles Stoughton and went with him to Windsor, Conn. in 1635.  She survived his death which occurred on March 25, 1661/2.  The date of her death is not known.«/i»
