WILLIAM BARET,  a gentleman of Westhall, Suffolk, England.  He m. (1) Jane, daughter of William Clayton of Cheson and Hulesworth, Suffolk, England; m. (2) MARGARET (PETTYSHALL) widow of  Rev. William Wingfield, Abbot of Castle-Acre.  She was the daughter of Thomas Pettyshall of Norwich, England, (Visitation of Suffolk 1561, p. 4).  William Baret died March 11, 1565. .
   Among those by his second wife was: CHRISTOPHER BARET, bapt. 1562 at Westhall, Suffolk, England.  He m. ELIZABETH CLARKE at Lincolnshire, England; d. Norwich, Norfolk, England, in August 1649, survived by his widow.
   After the third marriage of his mother he went with her and his stepfather to Norwich, England, where in 1574 he was apprenticed for twelve years to a grocer.  In 1586, he became a grocer in Norwich.  He was Sheriff in 1615 and Mayor of Norwich in 1634.  He was Deputy Mayor in 1647.  Of his nine children the last six were baptized at St. Andrews Parish, Norwich, Norfolk, England.  He died aged about 87.
