Rutledge services slated in Sonora
SONORA (STNS) - Services for Mrs. Birdie Rutledge, 87, sister of a San Angeloan have been tentatively set for Wednesday in the First Methodist Church here under the direction of Ratliff-Kerbow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sonora Cemetery.
Mrs. Rutledge died at 1 p.m. Monday in a San Angelo nursIng home after a long illness. San Angelo arrangements were handled by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
She was born Birdie Muckleroy Feb. 11, 1883 and was married to Hugh T. Rutledge in 1904 in Sherwood. He died in 1929.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Gwen) Wardlow of Sonora, Mrs. Hurbert (Blanche) Blackwell of El Paso and Mrs. Evelyn Russell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Herbert L. Muckelroy of San Angelo; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rutledge Last Rites Held At Methodist Church
Mrs. Birdie Rutledge, 87, died in a Tom Green County nursing home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Birdie Muckleroy February 11, 1883 and was married to Hugh T. Rutledge in 1904 in Sherwood. He died in 1929. The Rutledges operated a cafe here for many years, and after his death, Mrs. Rutledge continued to operate the business. It was located in the building now occupied by Sonora TV, and was known as Rutledge Cafe. Mrs. Rutledge closed the cafe in the early 1940's.
Survivors include three daughters and they are Mrs. Hubert (Blanche) Blackwell of El Paso; Mrs. Evelyn Russell of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mrs. Jack (Gwen) Wardlaw. She is also survived by a brother, Herbert L. Muckleroy of San Angelo; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p. m. at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. John Weston, officiating. San Angelo arrangements were handled by Robert Massie Funeral Home, and local arrangements by Ratliff-Kerbow Funeral Home, who directed the burial service in Sonora Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hub Hale, DAN CAUTHORN, BILL SAVELL, Jimmy H. Harris, W. B. McMillan and JOHN FIELDS.
Named as honorary pallbearers were DR. J. F. HOWELL, BRYAN HUNT, MACK CAUTHORN, Ernest McClelland, Cleve Jones, Lewis Stockton, Bailey Renfroe and JOSEPH VANDERSTUCKEN.
