    Beulah Christine Shepherd died Monday, July 27,, 1987 at the Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline. She was 84 years of age. Beulah was born on April 2, 1903 at Moline, to Albert and Edith Collins Andrews.
    She attended school in Howard and graduated from Howard High School in 1921, along with three of her sisters, who graduated at the same time.
    On January 17, 1925 she married Fred L. Shepherd at Howard, and to this union were born a son and daughter.
    Beulah and Fred made their home at Port Orchard, Wash. for two years before returning to Howard where they remained throughout their lives. She and her husband owned and operated the Shepherd's Cleaners in Howard for many years and after selling the business, Beulah was employed at Smith and Goodwin dry good store in Howard until retiring in 1965.
    She was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church and past president of American Legion Auxiliary of Carter-Rader Post #149 of Howard.
    She is survived by a daughter Lucile Morgan of Chanute; two brothers Richard Andrews of Oakland, Ore.; and Albert Andrews of Wichita; three sisters, Mary Ellen Snodderly of Howard; Clarice Anderson of Olney, Md.; and Eunice Rhoades of Topeka; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    Beulah was preceded in death by her husband on October 30, 1984, her son George, and three sisters Ivy Jordan, Emaline Leonard and Bernadine Redmond Weyrauch.
    Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 1987 at the Zimmerman Chapel with Rev. Ron Bumstead officiating. Mrs. Velette Smith was the organist with Mrs. Louise Morgan singing "God's Tomorrow" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord."
    The casket bearers were Louis Wiseman, John Batson, Waldo Gray, Glenn Miller, David Magers and Sam Carter.
    Burial was held in Grace Lawn Cemetery at Howard. A memorial has been established with the Howard
    Senior Center. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
    The funeral arrangements were made with the Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
