Original surname based only on name of eldest son Haigh. Ancestry has made some links to Betty Haigh, but these links do not fit with the marriage to Joseph Marsden or to the village of Holme.
No sources have been found for a baptism of a Betty or Elizabeth Dearnley in the right time frame or geographical area.
