Facts and Events
Stones for the remaining family members, Miles Hershel Nix, Mary Etta Blackerby and Bertha Lou Nix all appear to have been placed at the same time and recently, maybe 1990's. The stone for Bertha Lou has only her name "Bertha Lou NIX" and a small "Gone So Soon" . There are no dates as if the person placing the stones had no other information, so I think that puts in Question the SSDI and the April 1975 DoD. Maybe there is a third Bertha NIX This lady does not appear on the 1920 census with the rest of the family. Why Not?? could she have married at age 15, or maybe just was not at home on census day, or ? There is also the possibility that she died prior to her 15 birthday. BERTHA NIX Request Information SSN 417-68-9485 Residence: 36063 Born 15 Jun 1905 Last Benefit: Died Apr 1975 Issued: AL (1965) Cannot be both dau of Miles Hershel and also of James Harrison That this is the caughter of Miles Hershel is in question, her marker stone at Morton's Chapel does not give any dates, and she does not show on the 1920 census when she would have been 15. So possibility good that she died before her 15th birth date. The 1920 Federal Census has listed; NIX, Miles, head, Renting, Male, White, 42, Married, Read Yes, Write Yes, Born Alabama.
