    Bertha Evelyn (Mayfield) Crumrine, 82, of Louisville, Colo., formerly of Peoria, Ill., and recently of Boulder, Colo., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville, Colo.

    She was born April 19, 1930, to John Walter Mayfield and Ada Gertrude (Collum) Mayfield in Fort Smith, Ark. She married Albert William Crumrine Jr. on Aug. 8, 1948, in Clarksville, Ark.

    She is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Janice Anne (Crumrine) Buchna and her husband William Robert Buchna of Wheaton, Ill.; daughter, Rhonda Lynn (Crumrine) McNally and her husband Thomas Richard McNally of Broomfield, Colo.; and son, Edward Lee Crumrine and his wife Andrea Hawk Crumrine of North Canton, Ohio. She is also survived by six very beloved grandchildren, Brian Robert Buchna of Wheaton, Ill., Mark William Buchna and his wife Barbara Lynn (Becker) Buchna of Des Moines, Iowa, Brianne Lynn (McNally) Claus and her husband Adam Thomas Claus of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kevin Thomas McNally and his wife Paige Harrington (Lubbers) McNally of Houston, Texas, Adam Edward Crumrine of Dublin, Ohio, and Harrison Lee Crumrine of Richmond, Va. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews.

    Her husband, Albert William Crumrine Jr., preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, John Charles Mayfield and Arthur Ervin Mayfield.

    Bertha moved from Clarksville, Ark., to Peoria with her husband, Albert, in August 1948.

    She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

    She worked for several years at Caterpillar Inc. Bertha attended Bradley University and received a bachelor's degree in English Language Arts Secondary Education and a master's degree in English Literature. She taught English at Limestone Community High School in Bartonville, Ill., from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. She was very dedicated to teaching and her students.

    Bertha was an active member and officer in the Peoria branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and served on the scholarship committee. She was also active in the Peoria Women's Civic Federation and a member of the Retired Teachers' Association. She was a member of East Boulder Baptist Church in Boulder, Colo., and previously a member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria.

    She enjoyed playing bridge, camping, hiking, fishing, reading, gardening and cooking.

    Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, Ark., at a later date. A memorial service will also be held in Clarksville, Ark., at a later date.
