Biography of Bernard DeBaun
Bernard DeBaun was born to Andrew DeBaun and Jane Forshay. He was born in Upper Saddle River, Bergen, New Jersey on 5 Feb 1790. He moved to Ramapo, Rockland, New York. He was married to Rachel Ackerman, the daughter of Johannes Ackerman and Maria Herring on 14 Nov 1812 at the Kakiat Dutch Reformed Church, Kakiat, Rockland County, New York. Bernard died on 4 Oct 1854 in Ramapo, Rockland, New York. His will was entered into probate on 12 February 1855 in Volume G, pages 249-252 in Bergen County, New York by his family.
They are both buried in Spring Valley, Ramapo, Rockland, New York in the Brick River Church Cemetery. Bernard's death notice appeared in the Rockland County Messenger, Thursday Oct 4, 1854:
"At Ramapo, on the 4th inst. Bernard DeBaun, in the 65th year of age. The friends of the family, and those of his sons, Andrew, Gerrit and Jacob DeBaun, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at the Brick Church, (Rev. Mr. Allen's) this day (Thursday) at 2 o'clock P.M."
