Owner of a tavern that was used as a way-station bystage coaches in Hants County. He passed it on to his son John.According to "Hunter Family History" by Iola Young and Belle Smiley"During the days of stage coach travel from Halifax to Windsor, onestop was listed as "SWEETS INN" at Ardoise, located at the top ofWillow Hill Road. It is not known if the inn was already in operationwhen Benoni Sweet bought the property or if he established the inn. Hewas listed as prop. from 1835-1845. After that date his son John waslisted as prop. Since rr. passenger service opened in 1858 the inn maynot have remained open long after that. Benoni Sweet-b. 1774."
