Captain Benjamin White (1724 - 1790) graduated from Harvard in 1744. He was active in town affairs, serving as selectman and accessor for years. He was a key leader of the American Revolution in Massachusetts. Although he was not a soldier, his title of Captain came from earlier militia service; he was one of the most ardent supporters of the Revolution from its earliest days.
