Benjamin Walby was baptised on 18th November 1713 at Aston in Hertfordshire. He was the son of Mary Walby, formerly Smith, and her husband George Walby, a butcher. When Benjamin was only one year old his father died.

On 22nd October 1740, aged about 27, Benjamin married Ann Pinnock at Aston. They do not appear to have had any children.

In 1756 Benjamin's mother died. She left him five pounds, whilst the remainder of her property was left to Benjamin's brother George.

In 1764 Benjamin's cousin William Walby died. He left Benjamin thirty pounds, and described Benjamin as a carpenter in his will.

Ann died in 1782. Benjamin and Ann had been married for 41 years. Benjamin survived her by nine years. He died aged 77, and was buried at Aston on 28th September 1791.
