2448.5//1224.0 BENJAMIN THOMAS I He was born 23 March(22:1)/ 23 May 1653 (27:6) in the Colony of Massachussets, now Springfield, Hampden County, MA In 1664 when he was 11 he was paid for working on a highway. His father was busy with town activities so Benjamin was in charge of farming on the 29 1/2 acres. On c1688, at age 35, Benjamin married ANN BELDING of Hartford(25:175), daughter of SAMUEL BELDING and MARY ANN ?. She was born 27 Jan 1665 at Hatfield, Hampshire County, MA, a neighboring town about 25 miles north of Springfield. Her mother, Mary Ann Belding, had been killed by Indians in 1677 when Ann was 12 years old.(22:1; 28:182; see 29:9 for other Beldings killed by indians) They had 6 children:
