Unable to determine a place of burial for Benjamin...perhaps he was interred on his own property in an unmarked grave. Also could not find an obit for him in several area newspapers.

Benjamin's property was in Stanley twp (Huron co?), ON, Canada...lot #N 1/2 16, concession L R W, deed dated 16 Apr 1858.

Death rec reg abt 2 weeks after death, Benjamin listed as age 78, b PA, Presbyterian, cause-old age, retired farmer..res village of Carlisle. (.informant John RENNIE, presb. clergyman res Ailsa Craig.). Physician was Dr. ANDERSON. .

acc to George Albert PORTER: Benjamin's father (sr) was born in Ireland & immigrated to NY...and that his son Benjamin (jr) was born in upstate NY near Buffalo. That Benjamin (jr) moved from NY to Canada in 1870. No evidence or proof of these claims was included in George's manuscript.

The only evidence Corey Janene MARENTETTE found supporting the idea of an Irish background for the PORTER line was an Ontario census notation for Benjamin's dau, Rose, which listed her ethnic background as Irish. Since Corey submitted this info to George, it may well be that he just took that as proof positive. The birthplaces of Benjamin & several of the children varies from census to census, as well as record to record. Benjamin's (jr)death record lists his birthplace as PA.\

As to location...Benjamin & Julia lived in Ontario in 1851/52. They may have moved back & forth between NY & Ontario more than once.
