Note that there is a difference of opinion as to whether the Benjamin that survived in the colonies was the older son of George, or a son with his second wife. Benjamin's half-brother, George, Jr., wrote to his cousin Bashelder on 25 June 1669 requesting payment to "my brother" Benjamin of five pounds of the 20 pounds which would be due George, Jr. from his legacy from his Aunt Ruth Dalton. Ruth Dalton was the sister of Phoebe, and she named only George's older children in her estate in 1663/4, lending support for the idea that Benjamin was not Phoebe's son.
