From OBR: Ziba, Benjamin's father, started for Ohio in 1805, but ran short of funds, stopped and worked a year and a half in Pennsylvania, then continued the trip to Ohio, arriving in Knox County in the spring of 1807. Benjamin was born during the stop over in PA.

From the book: Genealogical & Biographical Sketches...: "Benjamin's parents moved to Knox County, Ohio when he was an infant. In 1850 Benjamin & family emigrated to Richland County, Wisconsin, where they lived for several years, then removed to Sauk County, where they resided until 1874*. They then moved to Avoca, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, where they resided until March, 1882 when they removed to Shelby, Shelby County, Iowa, where they resided the balance of their lives.

Mr. Jackson was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church 26 Dec 1829. He was licensed to exhort by the Chesterville Class, Frederick Circuit, Michigan Conference April 6, 1839, and licensed a local preacher June 14, 1851."

  • Benjamin and wife may have been still in Sauk County in 1870 but by 1870 three sons, Ziba, John B. and Ebenezer were living together in Iowa.
