1871 - Benjamin acquired 80 acres of land from the U S government in Twsp 10 North of range 30 West, section15. 1900 - He and family are living in Vine Prairie Twsp, Crawford Co., Arkansas. They have been married 30 years. Four children are still living at home: William E, 20; Robert F, 15; Mary D, 12; and Norma O, 8. Their oldest daughter, Nancy M Fite and her 2 children , Lona & Logan are also living w/ them. Nancy is listed as married. Julia lists 10 children but only 7 are living. the 3 children who died before the 1900 census ere: Lucy Elizabeth Chastain-Fite, Amanda Caroline Chastain- Morton and James B Chastain. Later moved to Oklahoma, where he died.
