Oswego Daily Times, 28 Apr 1898: Last Saturday Samuel Green, agent for the Humane Society, was called upon by a young lady giving the name of Beatrice Allen, whose home is at North Volney, but who has been residing in Fulton lately. She told Mr. Green that her father, William H. Allen, was in town and that he was looking for her to take her home, but she did not wish to go, as at that place she was subjected to much abuse... She claims that... she was secured in a room and her father beat her unmercifully. It is said that she showed black and blue marks on her face to prove the story. Oswego Palladium, 11 May 1898: CASES REQUIRING LEGAL ADJUSTMENT... Fulton, May 11-- Samuel Green, Agent for the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, swore out a warrant for the arrest of Beatrice Allen, daughter of William Allen, a farmer living a few miles East of here, on the charge of conspiracy. A short time ago Miss Allen had her father arrested on the charge of assault in the third degree for assaulting her and driving her from the house. When the case was called the complainant failed to appear and an adjournment was taken until May 13th. In the meantime it was learned the father and mother had sent the girl out of town.
