Bathsheba Owen was not named in her father's will in 1798, it is likely that he did not approve of her relationship with the much older William Henry, Sr., whom she was co-habitating with the year before (prior to May 1797), when William and Bathsheba were brought before the Botetourt Court for "living in adultery", as follows:
