Basdel February 18th 1829 Received from the war office a military mark, number 1472, for 100 acres of land issued to the heirs Basdel Rice a soldier of the Virginia line in the Revolutionary war.

Virginia to wit
At a Court held for Bedford County at the Courthouse the 26 day of January 1829
Satisfactory evidence was adduced in Court to prove that John Rice and Peter Rice are the brothers & only heirs at law in fee of George and Bazdale Rice deceased late soldiers of the 6th Regiment of the Virginia line on Continental Establishment.
I Gustavus A. Wingfield deputy Clerk of the County Court aforesaid do certify that the above evidence is taken from the records of my office.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my official seal
