Mr. Bascom "Bass" Alexander Murray, 84, of 3407 Spanish Oak Hill Road, Snow Camp, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 10:45 a.m. following five days of critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Sue Herndon Murray, and the son of E. A. Murray and Bertha Isley Murray, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a retired grading contractor. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Keron Parker and husband, Roy III, of Snow Camp; two grandchildren, Michael Parker and Matthew Parker; and one sister, Mrs. Virginia Baker of Snow Camp.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Winfred "Duck" Murray and Mr. Jim H. Murray.
A graveside service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Nathan Hooks.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Keron Parker, 5245 Friendship-Rock Creek Road, Snow Camp, N.C.
