Bartholomew "Bart" Schall removed from West Virginia to Seneca Co., OH and on May 6 1822 took up land in Hopewell Twp., Sec. 14, & on May 31 1824 Sec. 10. It is not known if he married in West Virginia or Seneca Co., OH, no records have been found of his marriage. He & his family were listed in the 1850 Hopewell Twp., Seneca Co., OH census. Records of his children were taken from his administration & deeds at the time of his death, plus a leaf from his bible ( this leaf now in the hands of Miss June Shaull Lutz) which gave births, deaths & marriages. On the day of Bart's death, he was walking through his home with a pipe in his mouth when he accidently fell over his dog, that was sleeping on the floor, & the pipe stem went into the back of his mouth & he died as a result of this injury, although an obituary on him in the local newspaper dated 12 Nov. 1874, listed his death due to heart disease. He left no will, but there was an Admin., Doc. 5, pg 61, Seneca Co., Court House, Tiffin, OH, no heirs were named. His estate consisted of 160 acres of land which he acquired as the original purchaser. When the estate was settled, one of his daughters, Johannah, used her inheritance as part or all towards a new house which she had built. Bart's farm was about 2 miles west of Tiffin on Wolf Creek.
