Salem Oct 1688, d. at sea 23 May 1723, m. 6 Jul 1710 Mary Putnam, d/o Joseph [i.e., sister of Anne who married Bartholomew's brother Jethro]. From document dated 6 Jul 1723 by brother "Mr Nathan Putnam of Salem afores'd Marriner Lately mate of Cap't Barthol'o Putname in the Skooner Essex" detailing their last voyage, including capture by pirates, and then "on the 23'd day of May our Master Cap't Barthol'o Putnam Dyed haveing been Sick from the time they Came out of Jamaica."
