Obituary From the Vindicator, December 1965

Smith- Barbara Malinda, daughter of David and Rosanna (Overholser) Flory, was born Dec. 23, 1874, in Jackson Twp., Darke co., Ohio. she died Oct 24, 1965, about 1:15 p.m. in the Wayne Hospital, at Greenville, Ohio, where she was a patient for six days. Her journey was 90 years, 10 months, and 1 day. On Dec. 31, 1893, she was united in marriage to David Madison Smith, He died March 25, 1937. she was a native and lifelong resident of Darke Co., Ohio. She was a member of the union City district, Old German Baptist Church. they had 9 children. Surviving are 3 sons, Homer, Harry, and Robert; a daughter, Mrs. Carrie Dennison 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Miller Funeral Home by T. C. Boone and the undersigned. Burial was made in the Brethren Cemetery at Union City, Ind.

Mrs. Barbara Malinda Smith 90, of RR1 Greenville, died about 1:15 pm Sunday in Wayne Hospital where she had been a patient six days, She was suffering from a broken hip. The widow of David Smith, she was a native and life long resident of Darke County. Mrs. Smith moved to the Darke County Home four and one half years ago. She was a member of the Union City Old Order German Baptist Curch. Surviving are three sons, Homer of Dayton, Harry of Union City and Robert of Phoenix Ari; a daughter, Mrs. Carriee Dennison of Marion, Ind; 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Miller funeral home at 10 am Sunday with Rufus Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery at Union City. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 til5 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to charity.
