from 1882 biographical index by Weston A Goodspeed and Charles Blanchard "County of Williams, OHIO", published by F A Battey & Co, Chicago, IL, 1882. "CHARLES GRUNDISH, son of Peter and Elizabeth Grundish, was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, December 25, 1836. He was married in October, 1854, to Sarah Croyle, a native of Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and born in January, 1836. Shortly after his marriage he came to this township (SuperiorTwp, Williams Co., OH) and settled on his present farm, which he had previously purchased. In August, 1861, he enlisted in Company E, Thirty-eighth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served three years under Sherman. He owns 152 acres of good land, and his farm is one of the best cultivated in the neighborhood. He has had born to him a family of eleven children, vis., Avarintha, Ella (deceased), Mary, Jacob, Martha, Frances, Samuel, Estella, Ossen, Franklin (deceased) and Otis.
