Alternative parentage

An alternative set of parents is given for Auke Janszen in numerous web-pages and gedcoms. Little original documentation is given in most cases. In these versions Auke's father is said to be a man by the name of Jan Goosen, born 1581 in Dakkam, Friesland, Netherlands. Auke's mother is named as being Ebelken Hermans who is said to have been born 1578 in Borkum, Germany. The parents are said to have been married Dec. 24, 1606. No dates are given for their deaths and no places are listed for the marriage or for their deaths. The source, if any is given at all, is said to be a book by Guy E. Van Nice, "A Continuation of the 1916 Van Nuys Genealogy", published in 1991. No further documentation is given. So far no documentation has been found to support this information.

Instead Jan Aukes has been listed as a speculative father as he does appear as a witness at the baptism of Auke and Magdaleen's first son, Jan Aukes, who, presumably was named in honor of his grandfather.
