August George Bruder, Sr., was born in Deutch Cron, Germany, April 16, 1857, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bruder. He grew to manhood in his native land and served 2 1/2 years in the German army. In 1883, in Germany, he was married to Apolonia Remer. The same year they came to the United States; first making their home at Jordan, where Mr. Bruder was employed in the brickyards. They continued to live at Jordan until 1889 when they came to this community and established their home on a farm in Reynolds, where Mr. and Mrs. Bruder spent the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Bruder passing away on June 12, 1924. Because of his long residence in Reynolds, Mr. Bruder was widely known.
