Lieutenant Asa5 (Consider,4 John,3 Stephen,2 John1), b. at Hartford 8 August, 1719; … He d. 18 September 1766, at Litchfield. … Lieutenant Asa was admitted into the church of West Hartford 16 May 1742, and shortly afterward removed to Litchfield, where he was a prominent man─a Lieutenant in the Train Band,on the committee to lay out new highways, and tax collector. Residents of Litchfield, pp. 103, 109.) In the division of his father's estate, 2 April 1745, Asa received £161, a yoke of oxen, one-third of the land in New Hartford, and aright in the west end of the West Division lot. (Hartford Records [Probate side], 14:173; Manwaring, 2:531.) … On 3 August 1772 one-third of the real estate of Lieutenant Asa5 lying in New Hartford was set out to his widow Rhoda, 'now Rhoda Fitch.'"
