Strong, Active Young Man Taken Away in His Prime by Tuberculosis As intimated last week, the body of Arthur Myers arrived in Lake Odessa, but not until Saturday instead of Friday. It was taken to the home of his uncle, Frank Myers, where the funeral was held Monday forenoon, Rev. J. W. Bostwick of Woodland officiating. Friends who viewed the remains could hardly recognize in them the former Arthur Myers. He still weighed about 170 pounds when he died, but having been dead a whole week, a considerable change was to be expected. His brother, Shirley, of Scottville, had been notified of his serious condition and he was with him the week before death, so was there to see him properly cared for and to accompany the body back to the former home for burial.
Arthur Myers was born on the I. H. Eddy farm Nov. 8, 1883. He grew up to manhood in N. Castleton on the old Myers farm recently sold to Floyd VanWie. About ten years ago he began working for P. C. Flory at the barber grade, with whom he stayed about a year. From here he went to Detroit to work in the shop of his uncle Daniel, and later worked in other shops, until about 4 years ago when be bought a half interest in a shop. Along the first of October he sold out his interest in the shop and left for New Mexico, hoping to head off the disease which he realized had a firm hold upon him.
Friends of the family say that in spite of his strong, healthy appearance, he was never as well as he had been before he had the measles, and that is the only source they can trace his liability to consumption.
He leaves his mother, Mrs. Matilda Myers, two brothers, Royal of Hastings, and Shirley of Scottville, and one sister, Mrs. Allen DeLong of northern Michigan. - ↑ Burial:
