Arthur Bender, head, has radio, white male, age 48, married, first married at age 27, born Ohio, parents born Germany. manager, food products. Estelle, wife, white female, age 40, married at age 20, born Ohio, father born Ohio, mother born Indiana
Elmer, son, age 21, single, born Ohio, clerk, food products Robert, son, age 19, single, born Ohio, clerk, food products
Bender, Henry, father, age 80, widowed, born Germany, parents born Germany, no occupation.
*** It is possible this could be our Henry. His age is off, but it may have been a guess. He is said to have been born in Germany, but again, Henry is so old, and the children may not exactly remember that it was mom who was born in Germany and not dad, although dad’s parents were born in Germany.
I had not found a son named Arthur, but I know that Hannah had 10 children, and I only have gathered 7-8 (depending on whether Lottie and Leotta are the same person, which I think they may be.) In the 1900 census, after a gap of 20 years, the oldest child at home was Lottie, age 24, born Aug 1875. Next Bessie, age 17, born Oct 1882.
Arthur claims to be 48 in 1930, putting his birth in 1882. Still, the birth date is approximate. He could still have been just older than Bessie.
Certainly, if Arthur is Henry’s son, he could have been gone from home by age 24.
At this point, it seems like a real possibility that Arthur could be the son of our Henry.
