ARNT ARNTSSEN5 LOBERG (ARNT ELIASSEN4, ELIAS MONSEN3 LYNGEN, MONS ANDERSEN2, ANDERS OLSEN1 HOVINSEGGEN) was born June 16, 1859 in Klevan, Løberg, Horg, Melhus, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, and died December 04, 1913 in Menomonie, WI. He married BERTHA HANSDTR GRESJMOEN GAUSTAD July 10, 1880 in Menomonie, WI. She was born April 09, 1847 in Hølanda, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, and died October 11, 1912 in Menomonie, WI. Notes for ARNT ARNTSSEN LOBERG: Arnt Arntssen Loberg was the fourth child born to Arnt E. and Randi Larsdatter Loberg. At the age of twenty, Arnt A. emigrated with his parents and several siblings in 1880. Their destination was Menomonie, WI. Arnt A. must have fallen in love with Bergit Gaustad who he married and with whom he had a family. The other Lobergs from this group went onto to northwestern Minnesota into what is now Pennington County near St. Hilaire, MN. Arnt died at the age of fifty-four years, five months and eighteen days. Funeral services were held on December 6th at his home and at the United Norwegian Church in North Menomonie. He is buried in the old section of the Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie where burials were done as they occurred. He is buried in Row 7 Plot #39. No headstones or footstones can be found for Arnt, his wife or any of his children buried in this cemetery. As of the 1910 Census, Arnt A. was a naturalized citizen. He was also a laborer, at one time at the Saw Mill. He could not read, write, or speak English. He communicated only in Norwegian, as did his wife. He owned his home free and clear in 1910. This ancestry goes back to a cotter farm on the Loberg farm. The farm was poor and it was difficult to make a living. Randi almost lost her mind. Arnt was born in 1859 and went to America in 1880. He married Berit Hansdtr. Gresjmoen fra the Gaustad Gard (Farm) in Holanda. Four siblings came to America at the same time--Arnt, Ingeborg, Johannes, and Ole. The old buildings are gone, but I am told you can see the markings where they have been. I have the Holanda Bygdeboks, also.
