1. ↑ Arnold Lenox Cunningham was born March 22, 1925 in Woodland Township, Barry County, MI., the son of Cecil and Lottie (Gilliland) Cunningham.
   
   He attended school in Woodland.
   
   On July 26, he united in marriage with Audra M. Sears. The couple had seven children: Judy (Cunningham) Howard of Dimondale, MI., Lloyd Cunningham of Lake Odessa, MI., Gwen Cunningham of Manchester, NH, Terry Cunningham - deceased, Ronald and Alan Cunningham of Lake Odessa and Dana Cunningham of Ypsilanti, MI.
   
   Before he entered the armed forces, Arnold was a student and was employed on a farm.
   
   Arnold Lenox Cunningham, 18 years, service number 878044, 18 entered the United States Marine Corps from Detroit, MI. His Basic Training was taken at San Diego, CA. He served with the 16th A.A. Artillery. Arnold completed schooling for Inf. Bn, CE 72.6 (Machine Gunner) and for Search Light Crewman.
   
   He was stationed on Hawaii and Okinawa. He participated in the battles on Okinawa and Ryukyu Island.
   
   Arnold was awarded the HS and HD Buttons and the Good Conduct Medal. He attained the rank of Corporal.
   
   He was discharged from the Marine Corps on February 4, 1946 from Great Lakes IL.
   
   When he returned to civilian life he was employed by General Motors.
   
   Arnold died on February 12, 1998 in Woodland Township, Barry County, MI., and is buried in Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa.
