Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Rutherford, Archibald - born in Virginia; entered service 1776 in 7th Virginia Regiment; moved to Fayette County, Kentucky in 1785, thence to Jessamine County, Kentucky, thence in 1810 to Logan County, Kentucky, where received Pension in 1818; Joseph Crockett made affidavit 1819 in Jessamine County, Kentucky, he served in Revolutionary War with soldier 1776-77; soldier resided in Logan County, Kentucky 1821 at age 66; died 7/31/1838 per widow or 1839 per son Archibald; married 6/29/1782 to Elizabeth Akers, Washington County, Virginia who was born 1/1764; widow received Pension in 1843 Logan County, Kentucky; 11 children (5 born before 1794) including Robert (b. 1783, decd 1843), Stephen (b. 7/5/1785, died 9/28/1832 on his farm in Logan County, Kentucky & buried there), Catherine (b. 11/22/1787, md. 1806 to Samuel Owens, resided 1845 in Logan County, Kentucky); John, Archibald (b. 10/1793, resided 1845 in Randolph County, Missouri), & Samuel O (youngest child, resided 1843 age 36 in Logan County, Kentucky); John Akers made affidavit there in 1845 that he was born 1800, married in 1827 to widow of above Stephen Rutherford, they resided 1845 on farm where Stephen was buried; Joseph Rutherford (no kinship given) made affidavit 1845 in Loban County, Kentucky, he knew soldier & wife in Virginia; William Romans made affidavit 1845 in Fayette County, Kentucky, he was at soldier's wedding; James Kenley made affidavit at 78 in Boyle County, Kentucky, 1845 he knew soldier & wife in Virginia.
