- Rutherford, Absolom - born 1763 in Albemarle County, Virginia; moved to Wythe County, Virginia, where entered service in Virginia Regiment; moved abt. 1799 to Knox County, Tennessee; received Pension there in 1832; died there 6/28/1841; married 2/1790 Mary, who received Pension 1843 in Knox County, Tennessee at age 73 when Absalom Rutherford (no kinship given) made addidavit there; widow granted Bounty Land Warrant #3539 there in 1855, application for bounty land witness Pleasant C. & James F. Rutherford (both no kinship given); children's births: Ann 12/7/1791, Deliah 4/21/1793, Polly 1/23/1795, & (name illegible) 1797; query letter in file says soldier also had son Absalom Jr. & son James. F-W59, R-2105.
