Antonia Charlotte is listed as "A. C. Nefus" in the 1850 St. Tammany, Louisiana census, born in Massachusetts, although in 1910 New Orleans Census, Antonia's son Harry Neafus states his mother was born in Kentucky. In that 1850 census, Antonia/Charlotte's mother Jane Hodgson, and brothers Henry G. and Irving resides in the same household. She was the wife of Ansyl Neafus, who was born in Tulare, Rensselaer, NY 19 Feb 1812. Ansyl was a direct descendant of Johannes Nevius "schepen and third secretary of New Amsterdam under the Dutch" in the early 1600's at what is today Brooklyn, New York.
