Antipas2 (McLathlin) (Robert1), born at Wenham, Mass., 1680; when and where he was married, and the maiden name of his wife, have not been ascertained. For a few years he lived at Lexington, Mass., where his four eldest children were born. They are recorded as the children of Antipas and Sarah McClothlin. Antipas afterward removed to Attleborough, Mass., where he resided during the remainder of his life. The earliest record I find of him at Attleborough is a deed to Antipas dated March 1, 1715, conveying thirty-two acres. He is taxed at Attleborough, 1720, as Antipas McClothlin. … Antipas died at Attleborough Jan. 21, 1756. … Sarah, the wife of Antipas, died at Attleborough, September, 1777, supposed to have been 100 years old the March before her death. The descendants of Antipas have spelt their family name Claffland, Clafflind and Claflen, but generally Claflin.
