7. Anthony2 Austin, son of Richard1 of Charlestown, in Mar., 1663, testified in the case of Anthony Crosby vs. John Pickard, in the Essex County Court, that he was aged about 27 years, and said, 'being of Boston when Mr. Crosbie was ready to goe for England that Mr. Crosbie employed him to write some letters to send to his friends at Rowley. … He was admitted [to Rowley Church] 29 Mar., 1669. Freeman 19 May, 1669.
29 Nov., 1674, 'Br. Austin acknowledged his fayling that he had gone soe farr in ingageing himself to a remove to a new plantation before he had propounded his desire to the church that he might have their advise and consent, the church saw noe ground to disuade him from his undertaking (seeing he had noe accomodations heer) but wished gods blesssing upon him and his' (Ch. R.). He moved to Suffield, Conn., about Dec., 1674, and died there 22 Aug., 1708."

- ↑ Some secondary sources identify this Anthony as the son of the Richard Austin who embarked from Southampton of the Bevis in 1638. No evidence appears to support this identification.
