She was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Cuba, Ala. She moved from Alabama to Texas in 1923 and lived in Munday and Lubbock. She graduated from the College of Industrial Arts, now Texas Women's University. She married Clyde Robert Angel on Aug. 5, 1932. She lived in Big Spring until February 2000, when they moved to Waco. She was an elementary school teacher for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Big Spring and taught Sunday school to young adult women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Hyperion Club and Big Spring Garden Club. She was a book reviewer for many years. She was a volunteer at the Malone and Hogan Hospital. She was a founding member of the Howard County Heritage Society and Museum and was selected "Outstanding Woman of Big Spring" in 1981. She was a 50-plus year breast cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 12, 2001. Survivors include a son, Robert of Waco; a brother, George W. Tate Jr. of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
