Obituary COLUMBUS, Ohio Annette Benner Wessels, 80, of Columbus, Ohio, a former resident of the Watseka area, died Friday evening (October 19, 2001) at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from noon (Eastern Standard Time) Wednesday until the 2 pm services at the Evan Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave.. Columbus, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Iroquois County Hospice, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund or to the donor of choice. She was born May 22, 1921, in Belmont Township, Watseka, the daughter of Henry and Anna Schaumburg Benner. She is survived by her husband, Lowell, whom she married on April 9, 1944, at St. John Lutheran Church, Schwer; one daughter, Jananne of Chicago; four sons, Jay (Pam) of Aurora, Don (Trish) of Pickering, Ohio, Ben (Barb) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Rod of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, Megan, Tracey, Chris, Daniel, Sarah and Andrew; one sister and brother-in-law, Hildegard and William Adsit of Milford; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Benner of Woodland and Henrietta Benner of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernon and Lorraine Meents of Ashkum; and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Milford High School and IL State University, Normal with a teaching degree. Mrs. Wessels taught for several years in the rural schools in Iroquois County. She then became involved in the family business until retirement. She was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka before moving to Ohio.
