Pg 32: "Anne Bagnall was the second daughter of Richard Bagnall of Piercetown and of Aphra Sargent his first wife, who had lived at Bangalore, India, before Richard settled at Piercetown, Co. Meath. Here the Bagnalls were near neighbours of the Rothwells of Skreen. The progenitor of the family was William Bagenhall, Staffordshire, England, 1460, whose descendants came to Ireland and settled in Co. Carlow (see p. 13)" Pg 23: "in 1781 Anne [Richard's second wife] confirmed a marriage portion left by her husband Richard [Bagnall] for the daughter Amelia on the occasion of her marriage to Rowland Cooke, who in turn confirmed the land called "Knox" near Dunshaughlin to the second daughter, Anne Bagnall, her husband William Rothwell and their heirs."
